Introducing our GLE Team: Meet Caitlin

I am finally getting around to introducing you to the other ladies that make Gilded Lily Events tick! Being the boss is easy when you work with such sweet, hardworking and dedicated women. I will be rolling out the introductions over the next few weeks to bring you these friendly faces that you may have seen or will see on your wedding day that will work their hardest to make sure your day goes off without a hitch and you feel like you have made a new friend.

The story of Caitlin is that she emailed me in August of 2013 looking to work in the wedding industry. I just happened to have a wedding coming up where I could use an extra set of hands and I asked her to join us as a “trial run”. Of course, I fell in love with her work ethic and her quick wit.  She joined our team for that wedding season and quickly learned the ropes.  Caitlin has become not just a part of our GLE family but my actual family loves her too.

You will often find her on wedding days wrangling bridal parties, lining up escort cards in ABC order and packing up candles at the end of the night. All of her favorite tasks I can assure you (wink wink).

Here is a little more about Caitlin in a quick Q & A:

Me: What is your guilty pleasure?

C: Blasting 90’s pop music when I’m alone in the car and singing at the top of my lungs and I don’t feel guilty about it!

Me: What makes you laugh the most?

C: When a child belly laughs. I can’t help but crack up too!

Me: What is one thing you’ll never give up on?

C: Trying to make the people around me as happy and stress-free as possible!

Me: What do you love most about working in weddings?

C: Seeing how happy and in love the couple is on the day of their wedding.  I never thought that I would work in weddings, mostly because I was afraid of dealing with the demands and pressure that come along with coordinating one of the most important days of a couple’s lives, but I have enjoyed all of it and seeing it come together is incredible! I could without all the blisters though!

Me: Do you have a favorite moment with GLE?

C: It’s hard to pick one moment, but if I had to it would probably be when we had my favorite musician (from when I was in high school) as one of the groomsmen in a wedding- 17 year old me is still dying!

I mean …who can’t relate to baby belly laughs?  I can’t think of a sweeter sound right about now and 90’s music are my jams too! And that favorite musician she is speaking about… it was Ryan Cabrera! haha

Thank you Caitlin for emailing us all those years ago now! We couldn’t imagine the team without you!

An Ode to my Husband for Valentine’s Day

As a wedding planner, I am lucky enough to have in love couples pass through my doors each season on the verge of a major life change. I get to witness firsthand how they work together through the trials and tribulations of wedding planning, make compromises, laugh together and finally share the joy of their wedding day as the next chapter is about to begin. This is so special to me and something that I do not take for granted. My wish for each one of these couples is that their marriage is even better than their wedding day. I feel lucky enough to count myself among those couples. In anticipation of Valentine’s Day, I want to share 5 reasons why I love my husband!

He makes me laugh more than anyone on Earth. I truly believe Charlie Chaplin’s words, “A day without laughter is a day wasted.”  It is my favorite thing to do and thankfully I found someone who I think is just down right hilarious! I know that a day won’t go by without a good laugh or two or ten and it makes the stressors of life a little easier.

He is my best friend. Hands down! We spend A LOT of time together and I always want more! We have our own little language. We love movie marathons. We joke about treating ourselves because we think we deserve it.  There is literally no one else that I would want to go hand in hand through life with.

He amazes me with his smarts! Thankfully, he is my ying to my yang when it comes to the “other” side of my brain.  He has a voracious appetite for learning new things and is my “engineer”.  Running your own business is a lot harder than it looks but lucky I have his support and mind for numbers.

We share the same values. I love how sweet and sensitive he is. He values time spent with family and friends. I love how kind and patient he is with others. He does the right thing -always- even when it is the harder decision.

He is going to be a great dad. We are expecting our first child in April and I can already tell how this life change has made him an even better man. This little boy is so lucky and so am I!

Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you! My hope is that you find the one that makes you laugh, makes you a better person and the one you want to do life with!

Thank you to Christina Lilly Photography for capturing these rare photos of us together!
