I love winter! There I said it. I know it is an unpopular opinion as most people rave about summer with the temperature in the 90s. I understand that for most people basking in the sun is usually the more favorable alternative to freezing in the snow but I am a sucker for all things winter!
So when I met with Nicole and she said that she and Brian were getting married in February at the Stone House at Stirling Ridge, I secretly wished for freshly fallen snow! 2015 did not disappoint where snow was concerned (stark contrast to this year so far) so my wish was granted and Nicole looked lovely amongst the pure white snow! Don’t you agree?
Nicole loves yellow and it was the perfect pop of color for our palette of navy, raspberry and white. We incorporated aspects of lace and cozy elements such as yarn (wrapped around the pillar candles) and birch plus tons of candlelight to round out the warm, winter theme.
One of my favorite aspects of their wedding design was the homey atmosphere we created for their ceremony. The ceremony was held in a heated area outside at the Stone House. Some guests were wrapped in blankets while others hugged their dates close while Nicole and Brian exchanged vows by candlelight in front of a wooden mantel provided by Dovetail Vintage Rentals decked out in baby’s breath garland. It was such an intimate setting and beautiful in every way possible.
To mimic the soft texture of snow, we incorporated baby’s breath in abundance throughout the decor. The bridesmaids carried baby’s breath bouquets and the groomsmen had delicate baby’s breath boutineers along with the garland and the pieces on the barrels that complemented the ceremony space. Nicole’s bouquet was made of white lisianthus, roses, seeded eucalyptus, anemones, scabiosa pods, dusty miller and pale yellow ranunculus.
If you are considering a winter wedding, I say “go for it!”. It is such a magical time and look at these photos that you could have! Thankfully, Jessa at Love & Light Photographs was there to capture all of these moments for Nicole and Brian. Now, if we could just get one snow day this year…I would be happy!
